Bucky is a 3 month old tri colored beagle and such a sweet boy! He weighs about 14lbs currently. He is a very energetic pup with an outgoing personality. His favorite things are eating, running, chewing and playing with other dogs. He is very social and runs up to human and dog strangers of all ages and sizes.

Bucky has a lot of puppy in him and is still learning how to behave in a home. He will need to go to a home committed to spending time to train and exercise him. He loves chewing just about anything he can find. He will need to be watched carefully while he learns what chewing is allowed. This boy LOVES bones! He can be an ornery pup but is so very sweet. He is working hard on potty training in his foster home. His forever home will need to be patient and continue to work with him on house training. He knows to “go potty” when taken outside. He is still learning that a potty inside is a “bad” potty. With frequent trips outside he has been doing fairly well. He does very well with “sit” and knows to sit for treats, food, etc. He is comfortable walking on leash and gets the basic idea. He will pull or stop to get more time on an interesting smell like a typical hound. He loves running free chasing his brother Tango in the fenced backyard. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard to run free in and let all that puppy energy out. He does like to dig in the yard. Bucky is pretty quiet for a beagle. He does fairly well being crated next to his brother. He can easily be put in his crate with a treat and quiets down quickly once in. He does well in the crate overnight and when his foster parents are at work and keeps his crate clean. He also does well on car rides in his crate.

He is fostered with a 7 y/o beagle, 15 y/o yorkie and 10 y/o GSD/lab mix. He does well with them all and has shown no fear or aggression with other dogs of any size. He is still very much a puppy, and has trouble reading the signs that his older housemates are not interested in play. He will pester the grumpy old senior dogs in his foster home, and would likely not be appreciated by older/calmer dogs. He loves playing and chasing other pups and would thrive in a home with another younger, playful dog sibling. He isn’t overly dominating or submissive in his foster home.   He has shown no aggression or guarding with food or toys. He does like to chase the kitty in his foster home but this seems to be just play, no aggression.

There are no kids in his foster home, but family members ages 2, 4 and 5 years visit often and he does very well other than jumping up for kisses and pets. He has no fear or aggression with kids but can be mouthy when playing. He would likely do well in a home with kids sturdy enough on their feet and who have been taught how to behave around dogs.

If you are looking for an energetic and playful pup then Bucky is your guy. He is a wonderful beagle with a really great temperament that would make a wonderful addition to any active family.

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements; and for families with very small children, puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets and hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
