Hey beagle folks, Duncan here. First I have to tell you that I am named after a professional bull rider that is my foster mom’s favorite and she thinks he is a good looking guy. Hmmm, that must mean she thinks I am one handsome dude!!

My foster parents say I am the most laid back dude they have had in the house. I just like to relax on the recliner or couch with my fluffy blankets, though I am getting my spunk back after finishing my heartworm treatments. I am bigger than most beagles, taller, longer, and currently about 34#, and I could actually use a couple of pounds put on. By the way, my size makes me an excellent counter surfer!!! Frozen pizza anyone?

One of my favorite things is sitting on the deck, or in the yard in the sunshine. And I do like to go for walks, and walk pretty well for a beagle.

I like attention, love everybody, and my tail seems to be always going. I am also the most submissive boy, and back down if my diva foster sister gives me her attitude. I would be fine as an only dog, or with a buddy. I am not the best snuggler, but we are working on it.

I sleep downstairs in the living room in my foster home, but would prefer to sleep near where my humans are, and foster dad says I would love to share a big bed if you would let me.

I am also the car ride king. I get in the back seat, and curl up and lie or sleep the whole time.

My foster parents have given me run of the house when they are gone. I do not do well in a crate, or being confined to an area or room.

A fenced yard would be best for me. I am not a typical boy “remarker”, so I have to find a spot to do my business. And I am terrible at pottying on leash.

Which bring up the last big thing: Housetraining. I am really good about going to the door when I need to go out. And if I get off the recliner and head towards the door, or get up at night, yep, time to go out.

I have been done with my heartworm treatments for a few weeks now, and the effects of the steroids I was on (lot more water intake/peeing) have really tapered off. I have done well on some longer days when foster dad tested me by not having foster grandma let us out during the day.

Foster mom and dad say if you have any concerns on the heartworm, Midwest BREW has some very knowledgeable people you can talk to about it.

One note, I am not a fan of deer. I was in a home for a few days, and any time I saw a deer (the home backed up to a forest preserve), I would bark and howl like crazy. And even at their scent in the yard. I don’t seem to do this at other critters but if you have deer living near by, it probably is not be a good fit for me.

But if you are looking for a wonderful and sweet boy, my foster parents say I am the ticket!!

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
