Ozzie II is a handsome 6-8 year old beagle mix with a gentle, loving spirit.  Ozzie is just looking for a warm bed to lie on, good food, and lots of love. He is a bit larger than the average beagle with a stocky build, but that just means there is more of him to love!

Ozzie appears to have had it a bit rough in the past. He was found as a stray and has some scarring/hair loss on his nose and ears. Ozzie also had several lumps removed while in foster care, and one was a mast cell tumor. Biopsy indicated a “low grade,” which the vet said means no further treatment is necessary and he is expected to live a normal, healthy life.

Ozzie is just the sweetest guy you will ever meet. He has a very chill, laid-back personality and is not really fazed by anything. He is very quiet and rarely barks, even when the two resident dogs are barking like crazy…Ozzie just watches curiously. Ozzie loves everyone he meets and is friendly to all. He did very well being poked and prodded at the vet. Everyone there just loved him! He does very well with other dogs and shows a friendly but not pushy demeanor.

He will play chase with our beagle and enjoys romping around in the yard with her. When our other dog wants a toy she will growl at him (she’s just kinda like that) and Ozzie just walks away. When he sees other dogs in the neighborhood he looks interested but does not bark or pull to get near them, he’s just very mellow. I believe he would do fine with or without other dogs in the home.

Ozzie went on an outing to a relative’s house where he met two cats. He was calm, non-reactive, and walked away when one of the cats hissed. Ozzie has also done well with kids he has met in the neighborhood—he always enjoys more love and attention! Ozzie is becoming more playful now that he has settled into his foster home and likes to play with toys. He is not destructive and doesn’t chew on furniture (though he will occasionally go after a slipper if left out!). He definitely will find and get into anything with food, however—he is very greedy (maybe from having to fend for himself on the streets) so anything that smells like food is fair game to him.

Ozzie is crate trained, and is crated during the work day and at night. He is housetrained and though he generally does not signal that he needs to go potty, he does just fine on a normal schedule. He keeps his crate dry and also does not mark in the house.

Ozzie is just an overall great, mellow guy with a sweet personality who loves people, food, and being petted and loved on. If you think you can give Ozzie the wonderful home he deserves, please contact Midwest BREW…..Ozzie can’t wait to meet you!
