Sparkles is a fun-loving, happy, ticked tri-color beagle girl. She gets along great with dogs, cats, and adult humans. She met children at a Midwest BREW event and was a good girl with them petting her, but has not had much exposure to kids otherwise.

At approximately one year old, this sweetie pie still has a lot of puppy in her.  Sparkles' energy level is currently about a 7 on a scale of 1-10. She is not "on" all the time, but loves to play with other dogs, toys and kongs, and to run around the yard; afterwards she enjoys jumping on the couch and snuggling with her people and taking a nap. At this stage in her life, Sparkles will do best in a more active family with another playful dog to engage her.

Sparkles always is happy to see you and greets her people with lots of kisses and affection.  She's a lover who enjoys being with her people and wants to interact and please them.  While she's energetic, she always searches out her foster mom or dad for some snuggle time rather than sleeping on the boring dog beds.

Sparkles is curious and loves to explore her surroundings and all the wonderful smells around her. She can be strong on a leash but is manageable with a no pull harness. She will potty on leash once she's enjoyed a little walk and scent tracking.  At her young age, Sparkles would benefit from a positive reinforcement obedience class.  She knows how to "sit" and will "come" from about 30 feet away in the yard. She's both smart and very food motivated, so I think she'll pick up other commands relatively easily with practice and commitment from her people.

Speaking of being food motivated, Sparkles is a typical beagle and hasn't met a snack she didn't like. Also typical are her vocal skills, whether she's barking to play or alert us to something going on outside, or baying as she plays chase outside, or making little grunting noises when she wakes up in the morning.

Which reminds me - Sparkles is a terrific nighttime sleeper! She sleeps quietly in a crate in our bedroom throughout the night.  As she gets more fully confirmed in her house training, she would probably enjoy sleeping in the bedroom on a dog bed or with her people.

During the day she crates well when we're not home (up to about 6 hours), and is fed her meals in her 36" crate to keep it an interesting place for her. She is crate clean.

Sparkles is doing well with house training, but requires a watchful eye to help her finish her training. She doesn't mean to have an accident; she just gets distracted and sometimes forgets the rules. But hey, that's why they're called accidents!

If you're looking for a sweet, loving, happy go lucky pup, Sparkles might be the girl for you!
