Alyssa Chute: Get well soon, Sue! Jessica Spec: Hope your surgery goes well Sue! Sending you lots of love. Jordan A Ellison.

Sue is a sweet, calm 12-year old girl. She is a beagle mix on the larger side at 30-35 pounds.Sue tested positive for Lyme disease when she came into the rescue. Along with being spayed, she had a hernia repaired, a benign mass removed from a nipple, and a UTI. She had a dental done that identified a couple of chipped teeth, but no teeth had to be extracted. She was treated and has recovered from all of her problems, and is now a happy, healthy girl looking for her forever home!

More than anything else, Sue loves to be outside. She could happily spend all day in the yard! She is very good at finding a cool, shady spot to hang out in. She will dig herself a little depression to nest in but isn’t into digging just for the sake of it. She likes to patrol the fence line and sniff all the smells. The resident beagle has taught her to stand up against the door to signal that it is time to come in, but Sue will generally just wait for you to call her. She would rather stay outside! She will happily go for walks as well. So far, the only animals she’s shown real interest in outdoors are rabbits and skunks, and she will pull on her leash to try to follow them.

Sue is very close to being housetrained. During the day she’s good about asking to go outside, as well as happily going out if you suggest it to her. She wears a diaper at night and if she is going to be alone for more than a half hour or so, but that is just for insurance at this point. She has been keeping the diaper dry most nights. Sue is crate trained but prefers to sleep outside of it. She is not at all destructive when left alone with the resident beagle. She gets along well with him but hasn’t been able to meet a lot of other dogs while she has been in her foster home because of social distancing restrictions. Sue is just a little too interested in the resident cats, and the cats have told us they think she’d be better in a cat-free home.

She rides well tethered or crated in the car with no whining or fussing. She should be secured in some way as she does like to move around and has been known to step on the window opener. All in all,Sue is a good girl, and will be a great companion. She is a sweet, calm older dog just waiting for you to give her all the love, petting, and treats she can handle!
