Hello, my name is Louie Lemon Drop. I am a cute little lemon coated beagle and I am sweet as can be. I am 12 years young and around 23 pounds. I have limited vision and hearing, but it doesn’t take me too long to settle into my surroundings and start to really shine. I am very joyful, confident, and trusting.

Before animal control found me as a stray, I lived my former life as a hunting dog and spent my days chained to a doghouse in between my hunting expeditions. I went to a shelter once I got picked up off the streets. They called the phone number on my tags and my former person said that they could just keep me, but he did enlighten them about a little of my past. I do great living inside with plenty of access to go out on nice days. I like living with my foster sister beagle and even my foster brothers, who happen to be two crazy cats.

I love time outside, walks, baths, and meeting new friends (human, dog, and even cats!). I also love a nice long nap or few throughout the day and any type of attention when I am up and about. I like kids, but would probably do best around older kids that can understand how to help with my care and look out for me. I am very quiet, but once I am up and about I am inquisitive and like to walk around and explore.

I need to have a fenced in yard. Since I spent my whole life on a chain I need the controlled freedom of movement, prancing, and sniffing. A fenced in yard will also provide me the safety of a boundary, as I can’t see too well and I just go where my nose and feet will take me. I don’t 100% need another dog (or a cat) around, but it has made me feel very comfortable in my foster home knowing that I have other roommates.

A couple of things that I do to stay healthy are take daily eye medications and have a monthly acupuncture treatment. When I came into foster I was diagnosed with IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), but I started going for acupuncture and it is really helping me feel good and has improved my prancing skills.

You could say that I am moving up in this world, but I still have another chapter yet to be written. The fine folks at Midwest BREW are taking applications for my next author!
