Gender: Female Age: 3 - 4 months Status: Available

Peggy is a 3 month old beagle mix and is one of the “Hamilton” puppies. She currently weighs about 20 and is growing fast.  A DNA test done on her sister came back as Beagle, Coonhound, American Staffordshire Terrier, Miniature Pinscher, and German Shepherd! Based on her current size, paws and background she is expected to be a bit larger than a typical beagle.

Peggy is full of energy, curiosity and mischievousness!  She is very playful and loves all sorts of toys.  Watch out for your shoes because she loves those too!  Peggy is still very much in a teething stage and will need lots of toys and healthy things to chew on.  Peggy wants to play, play, play with her foster siblings but they are older than she is (6 and 13) so they aren't too excited about her puppy ways.

Peggy is feisty, smart and turning out to be rather athletic.  She likes to run and jump and engage in tug of war with anyone who will hold the other side.  She likes to be with her people and other dogs and will work to get through gates to be part of the pack.

Peggy enjoys mealtime and all kinds of treats.  She loves being outside, laying on the grass and chewing sticks.  Peggy likes to go on walks and is friendly when she meets dogs or people.  She does ok on leash but occasionally tries to backout of a harness.

Peggy sleeps through the night and enjoys cuddles with her people.  Peggy would make a wonderful addition to an active family or a family with a dog needing a playmate.  She would love a home that gives her regular exercise to burn off her energy, engages her mind, is entertained by her puppy ways, is dedicated to training her and most importantly, will love her forever.

NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
