Gender: Female Age: 10 years - AARB Status: Available

This sweet gal is Samantha. She's about 10 years old and weighs about 27 pounds. Her big beagle ears and the eyeliner around her eyes give her the cutest expressions. Samantha likes to go on walks, and starts out quickly, then slows down in order to properly investigate the area. She has peed while on-leash, but that's all so far. She has been to dog parks and has been very friendly with other dogs of all sizes. Samantha even enjoys wrestling with her one year old foster sibling. She hasn't been tested with cats, but doesn't seem to like the neighborhood raccoon, so we don't feel very confident of her reaction to cats.

Samantha is housebroken. While indoors she can be vocal when a critter goes by, but is otherwise very quiet and well behaved, so she may do well in an apartment or condo. She will need a secure fenced-in yard as she would be very good at finding any weak spot in a fence. She loves to be outside and, like most beagles, does follow her nose all around the yard. Samantha does well at bath time and has no sensitive areas. Riding in cars while in a doggie seatbelt has been no problem, but we don't know how she would do in a car unrestrained.

Samantha has had a lot of teeth pulled, so her food should be softened or broken into small pieces. When she first arrived in foster care she had a big belly and arched back. Per the Vet, her diet was changed to a very nutritious blend offered by Science Hill. She lost weight, and her back looks much better. She has a couple of fatty lumps, like most older dogs, and they are not very noticeable.

Samantha loves to be petted and hugged and is very happy to see foster Mom when she comes home. She has shown no food aggression as Foster Mom can handle her food bowl while she's eating, and her foster sibling has even tried to take some without any reaction from her.

If Samantha sounds like just the sort of fun, yet laid back hound for you, Midwest BREW can help you through the adoption process.
