Gender: Female Age: 3 years Status: Adopted

Hi there, my name is Penny Copper (aka Penny “Copperfield”, but more on that nickname in a second). I’m a sweet Beagle girl, who is approximately 3-4 years old and a little over 20lbs.   I may be a bit on the smaller side, but I’ve got a huge heart and a big personality. I’m friendly with other dogs and get along really well with my furry foster brother, but sometimes it takes me a little bit of time to warm up to humans.   But once I do warm up, I REALLY love to snuggle up to get belly rubs and ear scratches. I also really love the car and going for rides, so I’d be a good match for the right person or family who might be looking for a road trip companion.

My previous life was a lot different than life at my foster home and I’m still learning a lot about the sights and sounds around me. I have learned quickly how to walk on a leash when I need to go potty, and I haven’t had many accidents in the house since my first week here. I do sometimes get a little skittish with loud noises like fireworks and thunder and occasionally try to run back to the house or want to be carried home. I’m also not a fan of spending time in my crate and get pretty anxious and vocal when I have to go there. My foster family is working with me on that and says that we’re making progress, but I’d likely do best with a family where someone is home or can keep me in tow with them most of the time.

Now about that Penny “Copperfield” nickname and the main reason that I’ve earned it: Like some human illusionist named Copperfield, I’m something of an escape artist. For that reason, my foster family says that I’d probably do better with a family that will take me for regular walks on a leash when it is time for a potty break. I’m also very food motivated and probably need to be fed separately from any other furry creatures in the house to prevent me from trying to make their food disappear.

More than anything though, my foster family saysthat I’m an adorable couch potato. So if you are looking for a good friend for road trips, snuggles, and naps I hope you’ll let me be your lucky Penny.
