Gender: Male Age: 5 - 7 years Status: Available

Bodey is a tri colored beagle that is approximately 5-7 years old and weighs 25 lbs. He was picked up as a stray and ended up in a shelter for 1 and a half months. He’s not had a very good life and more than likely has spent it outside on a chain or in a kennel. He does have some hunks out of his ears as a result of his neglect, maybe due to flies or frostbite, but that doesn’t take away from his awesome good looks.

Bodey is currently in a foster home living with his foster mom and dad along with their 2 beagles. He gets along very well with dogs of all sizes but hasn’t been cat tested. He’s a very laid-back dog that will occasionally run around the back yard. He came to us with no training or any idea how to behave in a home so he’s learning his house manners the best he can and would benefit from your patience. He can jump high so don’t leave food unattended, even on your kitchen table. He can sit for a treat and has learned to use a doggie door when he needs to go outside to potty. He will need a secure fenced yard as we cannot get him to potty on a leash. He has the run of the house when we are at work although he is not left alone longer than 6 hours. He does well in his crate at night next to our bed but prefers to sleep in bed with us.

Bodey loves his walks and although we have been working with him, he needs continued training on a leash. He doesn’t pull but gets very sidetracked with the smells and to keep him on track we must carry treats. Like most beagles, he is very food motivated and we feed him in a slow-down bowl. He LOVES treats and one of his favorites is cucumbers. He loved picking them himself in our garden. He’s a fan of tomatoes too!

Bodey has been treated for heartworms and will need to be tested in 9 months. You will also have to keep him on heartworm prevention year-round.

Bodey rides well in a car and enjoys being petted and being close to you. When you rub his belly he moans with pleasure. With continued training we are confident Bodey will make a great addition to your family.

Please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor if you think Bodey is the companion you have been looking for.
