Hello! My name is Abraham, but you can call me Abe. I am a very loving and beautiful, 8 year old male beagle mix, weighing 37 lbs. Although I am taller for a beagle, I am very nimble and still *try* to make a good lap dog. I also somehow make my way through a typical “medium” sized beagle doggy door just fine.

My background story is quite sad. I lived with my previous owner for most of my life. We were best buds, and I was always very loyal to him. He had some medical conditions which ultimately led to his death. I stayed by his side for 3 days in the home before it was known for help to come on the way. I was very distressed by that time. I was taken to a shelter and ultimately brought into Midwest BREW’s rescue.

Because of my past experiences, I took a while to fully readjust. I wasn’t eating well, and generally had very low energy. Now, I am gaining weight back, eating up all of my food, and playing with my 2 beagle friends in my foster home. So far, I haven’t met a dog or a cat I don’t like. I’m friends with them all!

I have many of the typical beagle characteristics: professional ground sniffer, squirrel watcher, vocal when something is in the human’s yard territory, and can nap for hours upon hours.

One quality I possess that is not very beagle like, and may be considered desirable is that I am not stubborn. I almost always come when my name is called. In other words, I do not have selective hearing like many beagles do. Haha.

My foster mom describes me as “such a good boy” who is loyal, loving, goofy, and very obedient. Although I am 8 years old, I still love my chew toys. I am very good about only chewing designated toys. I am fully house trained and do not make a peep at night. I ride great in the car and I get right into my crate without a fight.
