Hi - I'm Ruby! I've been told that I am a very beautiful girl, but my life before I was with Midwest BREW was anything but pretty. I spent my life on a heavy chain in a cramped, uncomfortable space having litter after litter of puppies. That really took a toll on me, and now I have disc disease and arthritis in my neck and back. I was in so much pain that I couldn't raise my head or walk very well. But my foster mom took me to a chiropractor, and now most of my days are pain-free! I'm allowed to go on 10-minute walks every day to build up muscles in my back legs, which makes me very happy – I wasn't going on any walks at all when I was on that chain!

Foster mom says I've come a long way in the four months that I've been with her. I was so afraid when I got here, but now I happily follow foster mom everywhere she goes and play with my stuffed toys. I also love playing in the yard with other dogs - make sure you check out the video at the top of my page to see me in action!

I would do best in a calm environment, and I would welcome laid-back canine companions. I adore the two resident senior beagles in my foster home and I always make sure to snuggle up with them when it's nap time!

A fenced yard is a must because I don't really like to potty while I'm on a leash. House training is going well, and I use the doggie door like a pro. I must confess that I'm also a pro at snagging cucumbers from the garden for a tasty snack!

I will need some extra TLC in my new home. I can't do steps, jump onto or off of anything, or jump in or out of a car, so you'll have to pick me up (I weigh 25 pounds). I slip and slide on smooth floors, so I'll need rugs or runners for traction when I walk. Foster mom says that monthly maintenance visits to the chiropractor would be very helpful to me as well.

Like foster mom said, I've come such a long way from my old life - I can hardly wait to see what other wonderful things life has in store for me in my new home!
