While he came to us at an early age after his owner decided she could not keep, in his foster home Rowdy has been picking up commands using clicker training. Currently, he knows sit, leave it, and is working on loose leash walking.
Rowdy's name comes from his personality, when excited he will jump around like a bucking bull, and let out a big A-Roo!
Rowdy is looking for an experienced beagle to learn from; maybe a brother or sister who likes to play tug or fetch with. In his foster home he will often watch and repeat what his foster brothers are doing. He likes to cuddle and follow his foster mom around. His favorite past times are lying on the bed in the kitchen while she is cooking, chewing on some ice from a bowl, and playing chase/catch/tug with his foster brothers. Rowdy is a vocal puppy while playing, he will likely be a vocal adult dog with a great signature beagle bay.
Rowdy could be a solo dog but would require someone dedicated to training, please ask his foster mom for more information
He is good in a crate and a play pen. A home with a fenced yard would be best so he can run out his energy. He would not be good in an apartment.
He does not do well on car rides yet. He cries and barks whether in crate or tethered. If you are looking for a little cowboy to liven up your current dog or make you smile on a rainy day, Rowdy is your guy! Ask to talk to Rowdy's foster mom for more information on him. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy. |
