On April 30, two large animal welfare organizations – Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy – announced that they had purchased 1500 beagles from Ridglan Farms.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue contacted Midwest BREW to see if we would be able to accept any of the beagles that they obtained into our program.  Because we are a foster-based rescue, our intake capacity depends on the number of open foster homes that we have available. Based on our foster home availability at the time, we offered to bring two beagles into the program, with the possibility of being able to accept more in the future. We have not heard back from Big Dog Ranch regarding our offer, so at this time, we do not have any of the Ridglan Farm beagles in our program. 

The Dane County Humane Society in Madison, WI has obtained approximately 500 of the 1500 beagles from Ridglan Farms, and we have confirmed that currently, they do not need our assistance with the beagles in their care.

While Ridglan Farms is a high-profile case, and we remain willing to assist in any way possible, our priority has always been and will continue to be supporting and assisting with the needs of the local shelters and owner surrenders in our six-state territory.
