Diva is an older lady, but has the enthusiasm for life of a young dog. We can’t believe how high she jumps when it’s time to put on her harness and go outside! And of course she gets very excited at meal times. She is very attentive to people, and her tail wags and bottom wiggles any time you talk to her. She loves to snuggle on the couch or in bed.

Diva was anxious and overweight when she was taken in by Midwest BREW. Since being in our home, her anxiety has disappeared, and she is continually slimming down. She does still have high anxiety about going to the vet and having her nails trimmed, and will likely need anti-anxiety medication for just those events.

Diva’s beagle hunting skills definitely shine when she sees or smells a deer; she pulls on her leash and bays to sound the alarm. She is adorable when she does this, but she would require a fenced yard or always being on a leash outside.

She gets along well with our two other dogs and four cats. However, we would recommend placing her food dish away from those of other pets, as she can be food protective.

We are working on housebreaking; when taken out on a leash, she will pee and poop consistently, but we still have a few accidents inside the house. Fortunately, she mostly uses the potty pads.

We love Diva very much, and would absolutely adopt her if we didn’t already have so many pets. She will be a great dog for someone who wants a beagle with a big heart, and is ready to keep working on her training.

NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
