Eddy * Popular Good with DogsNot good with ChildrenPotties on a leashHousetrainedLikes to ride in the car
Gender: Male Age: 5 years Status: Available

Meet Eddy!  Eddy is a handsome 5 year old, 28 pound male beagle mix.  Eddy is a fun, sweet, loving boy and loyal companion who likes to be by his people's side, cuddle on the couch and sleep next to them in bed.  He equally likes to spend time with his Beagle foster brother.   Eddy likes to wrestle with his foster brother and while he can play a little rough at times, he is learning to take queues from his wrestling partner.  Eddy can get a little jealous and reactive when other dogs come near his people during cuddle time but he is a smart boy and has been learning that sharing his people is actually ok.

Although Eddy loves his foster brother he does not feel the same about all other dogs.  Some large dogs scare him which leads him to behave defensively.  He gets nervous in dog parks when there are too many dogs or certain dogs.  He walks nicely on leash but can also react to certain dogs he meets on the street.  Eddy will need an experienced owner to continue to work with him on identifying triggers that make him nervous and help redirect him to respond appropriately.

Eddy is potty trained and does well in a fenced yard.  He loves to go on walks and play fetch with a tennis ball.  He enjoys soft plush toys and bones.  Eddy is very patient waiting for his food and takes treats gently.  Eddy is not overly food driven like typical beagles and has no issues with counter surfing, snatching other's food or getting into garbage.

Overall Eddy is a very well-trained boy and would make a wonderful addition to an active family who are experienced dog owners.  He would enjoy regular walks, hikes, playing fetch and accompanying his people on trips or to work.  Eddy would do well with an adult family or one with older kids as younger kids are less predictable and can scare him.  Eddy would do best in a home with another dog to help him bond, socialize and help build his confidence around other dogs.  Eddy would love a home that gives him the attention he craves, cuddles with him regularly, provides him with regular exercise and most importantly, will love him forever.

NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
